Meet Our Vets

Dr. Amy BennettPractice Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Amy Bennett has been passionate about horses since childhood and knew early on that she would dedicate her career to their care. She earned her degree in Animal Biology from the University of Guelph before graduating with honors from the Ontario Veterinary College.

To further refine her expertise, Amy completed a highly competitive internship (2012-2013) at a prestigious equine hospital in California, where she specialized in sport horse medicine, lameness, surgery, and internal medicine. She has since pursued extensive continuing education in lameness and sport horse medicine, including ISELP courses, ensuring she remains at the forefront of equine veterinary advancements.

Amy is a FEI Permitted Treating Veterinarian and holds a veterinary spinal manipulation certification (2014), integrating a hands-on approach to performance horse care. She is also a dedicated mentor to veterinary students aspiring to specialize in equine medicine.

Beyond clinical practice, Amy has played an active role in veterinary leadership, serving as President of the Ontario Association of Equine Practitioners (2019-2020) and currently as a board member of the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (2024-present).

In her free time, Amy enjoys riding her hunter mare, Coco, and spending time with her family while continuously expanding her knowledge of equine medicine.

Dr. Megan DonatiVeterinarian

Dr. Megan Donati’s equine passion began at 3 years old when she was plunked on the saddle of a 30-year-old mare. That planted the seeds towards owning horses and successfully competing and riding on the ‘A’ circuit in the equitation and jumper rings.
Megan obtained a Bachelor of Science in Animal Biology at the University of Guelph and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College, graduating both with honours.
Today she enjoys all aspects of equine practice from internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, lameness, reproduction, and critical care. While making Guelph her new home, Dr. Megan also enjoys spending time at her family’s cottage, hiking, skiing, and naturally, time in the saddle.

Dr. Christy BarnesVeterinarian

Dr. Christy Barnes learned to ride and care for horses near Cobourg, Ontario. Christy obtained a degree in Animal Biology from the University of Guelph and took a detour into teaching with a degree in Education from the University of Toronto. After teaching grades 7-12 for several years she returned to the equine industry, graduating with honours from the Ontario Veterinary College. Christy spent time in the United States developing her particular interests in wellness, dentistry and lameness. When not at the barn, Christy enjoys reading all kinds of fiction, volunteering with the Canadian Pony Club and spending time at the cottage with her family.

Dr. Elizabeth BrezinaVeterinarian

Dr. Elizabeth Brezina grew up in Burlington, Ontario, where she developed a love for horses while riding at a local eventing barn. Not surprisingly, once she set foot in that barn she couldn’t be pulled away, and this in turn fueled her desire to become an equine veterinarian. Elizabeth went to the University of Guelph for her undergraduate degree, where she majored in Animal Biology. In between her undergraduate degree and veterinary school. She worked at a sanctuary which rescued, housed, and cared for donkeys. Here Elizabeth quickly developed a new rival for her affection.
Elizabeth went on to receive her degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College, and graduated in the spring of 2023. Last year Dr. Brezina completed at Equine internship in Cochrane Alberta were she developed a special interest in emergency medicine, internal medicine, and of course…donkeys!

Outside of Veterinary Medicine, Elizabeth enjoys hiking, horseback riding, and enjoying the company of her family and friends.

Meet Our Team

Jen MaisClient Service Representative

Jen grew up on a family farm in Flamborough with a menagerie of pets ranging from cats, birds and dogs to goats and horses. Knowing from a young age that a career in animal care would be the right fit. She graduated from Sheridan College Animal Care Program in 1988. Jen currently resides in Cambridge with her 2 dogs Tybee and Rosie and pet bird Pixie Chick.

Michelle DamOffice Manager

After discovering her passion for horses, Michelle graduated with an Equine Management Diploma from the University of Guelph, earned her Western Instructor Certificate, and began to teach riding lessons. Michelle joined the world of veterinary medicine a few years ago and loved being able to combine her passion for all things Equine with her career. Outside work, Michelle enjoys spending hours with her horses grooming or riding, working around the farm, taking the dog for a walk with her family, and honing her musical skills by playing cello and piano.

Janice RogersRegistered Veterinarian Technician

Janice graduated from the Animal Health Technology Program at Thompson Rivers University. From a young age, horses have always been a passion of Janice’s. That passion has taken her from the hunter/jumper and dressage rings to working at the racetrack and breeding and training farms. Janice’s lifelong love of horses ultimately leads her to become an Equine RVT.

Naomi RustonVeterinary Assistant

Naomi fell in love with horses at a very young age spending time with her grandparents’ Belgian horses on their dairy farm. A few years later she started riding lessons and never looked back. From then on, she spent as much time as possible in the barn, mucking stalls, helping teach lessons and summer camps. Naomi later took up eventing and has had a great time participating in the sport. Naomi enjoys spending her free time riding, hiking, and being outdoors with her dog.

Rachael ShannonVeterinary Assistant

Rachael started riding at 6 years old and has been in love with all things horses ever since. From there, she spent as much time as possible working at the barn and riding. Rachael grew up competing locally in hunters/jumpers on the trillium circuit and recently has been competing on the A circuit in the jumpers with her young horse since last year. She graduated McMaster University in 2022 and hopes to attend veterinary school in the future.
